Hi Damo and thanks for your inputs. Firstly, it does indeed take a few days for you to get used to the breathing and for your normal values (both HRV and resting HR) to be established. You can expect your resting HR to be a few bpm (up to 10 or so) higher in the standing than lying position. HRV is a very sensitive measure, but it will reflect mental and physical sources of stress, so relaxing when making the measurement is important, and the breathing animation is designed to help you do that.

With reference to the line segment colours - white just means there has been no significant change. You could expect that much of the time. It is only when your body state has changed significantly (eg after a strenuous workout or three) that the traffic lights will warn you of impending trouble if you don't throttle back! (the example charts on the back of the QR guide are real data I took and may be helpful here).

You may occasionally get Daily Change indications that disagree with how you're feeling on some days - but my experience over the year I've been developing ithlete has been that it is more often right! I had one instance of a late night and a few drinks where my reading the following morning was quite low (with an amber light) but I felt OK to do my usual fast group ride. I really suffered and had to abandon after 40mins.

You can also use ithlete as a way to get more in touch with your body - when you get a reading you weren't expecting, try to figure out why - are you putting a brave face on mounting fatigue / stress, that really needs more rest or just in a big hurry when you took the measurement perhaps.

Posted to: New user Show Thread | Post Reply

Gone to 77 today. How you breathe seems to have quite an effect on results!

Posted to: New user Show Thread | Post Reply

Ok... Hi

I've been I'll for a bit... One thing after another! So thought I'd use this to prevent further problems. I've done a few readings and my number is White! There's no reference to White numbers! Does this just mean not enough data yet or something else? I'm around 66 - 67 on the scale which is quite low?

Thanks

Posted to: New user Show Thread | Post Reply
