Hi Garv

ithlete was really designed to help athletes plan their training using a simple daily morning measurement. However the animation on the measurement screen was designed to be soothing in use, thereby minimising the impact of mental stress on the HRV value. You cannot display HRV continuously, but you could take a reading, note the number at the top of the screen, engage in something relaxing (like deep breathing / listening to music) and then do another measurement. If the number increases, then you know that the relaxation has been effective!

Posted to: Heart Rate Variability - stress reduction Show Thread | Post Reply

Heart Rate Variability - stress reduction

Hi,

I've been looking at the ithlete product with some interest, however my intended usage is a bit dirrerent. I've been using a product from HeartMath (www.heartmath.com) to reduce stress by monitoring my heart rate variability to bring it into a consistent sine wave pattern. Since the ithlete product run on an iPOD it's almost a perfect match.

I understand the usage is not as intended, but I had a couple of questions to see how large the gap is...

 1. Can your product visually display heart rate variability real time on a chart? i.e. like a sine wave chart...
2. Can your product run continuously for 5-10 minutes to monitor this information?

Thank You

Posted to: Heart Rate Variability - stress reduction Show Thread | Post Reply
