Effect on HRV of net calorie deficit Link to this post

I am trying to lose a few Kgs and have noticed that my ithlete readings have been dropping off which is unexpected due to level of training and rest I have been getting. My weight loss plans are reasonable (I'm not starving myself - currently 67kg aim 65kg in four weeks). I felt really tired training last night and decided to pig out a bit on carbs - cereal, a bun, oat cakes. This morning highest ithlete reading for over a week.

    Connection or coincidence?

    Hi Darren
Thank you for a most interesting post!
My view is that there could well be a connection. When I was choosing the particular HRV measure for ithlete, one of my criteria was to find the one that most consistently reflected body balance in respect of fitness, fatigue & all sources of stress. It could be that unknowingly, the combination of training & caloric restriction has stressed your body, with your feelings of tiredness confirming the HRV decline.

I am not a nutritionist, but it could be that just the balance of carbs and other components is just not quite the right one for your weight loss goals. Perhaps anyone who reads this who does have a suitable background could comment on how Darren can best achieve his goal.
